Newborn Care Class

Learn what to expect with a newborn!

"Newborn Care was our first class, and both me and hubby were astonished with tons of valid information. I strongly recommend the class. Having the knowledge is very helpful in setting realistic expectations and it worked wonderfully for us." - Markelli L.

Using the touchstones of ABC - Appearance, Behavior, and Care - we cover all the basics, along with oodles of tips and tricks for ensuring a successful "fourth trimester.”

Taught by Jen Patashnick of Wonderful Welcome

Jen is a Certified Postpartum Doula (CPD) and Certified Lactation Educator (CLE) thru CAPPA, a Certified Babywearing Educator (CBWE) through the Center on Babywearing Studies, and a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) through Safe Kids Worldwide.  She is also a trained New Parent Educator (CAPPA).  She is a mom of two kids, and has a double major in Biology and Linguistic Anthropology from Brandeis University, as well as a 7th degree black belt in Uechi-ryu Karate and an extra class Amateur Radio license.

This is a fast-paced class, taught with humor, that touches on many topics that could themselves be entire classes.  It is based on years of postpartum experience with new families and designed to provide reassurance and guidance for those families who may not have much experience with babies.

NOTE: This workshop is best for expectant families to attend in the third trimester.  Grandparents can benefit from this workshop as well, since current thinking based on evidence-based practice is presented.

Upcoming classes: Sundays 3/9, 4/27, 5/18, and 6/15 from 1-4pm at Illuminated Birth & Company in Acton
