Prepared Lactation

Taught by Teresa Coyle-Airey, IBCLC of Peaceful Birth & Beyond

Teresa has been advocating and working within the birth and breastfeeding world for close to 4 decades. While there have been many changes throughout each decade, being prepared and informed remains the best measure for success.

Class topics include…

  • How milk is made!

  • How babies actually transfer milk

  • What a normal newborn breastfeeding session looks like

  • How to optimize milk production

  • Anatomy of lactating breasts

  • Myth busters!

  • Common reasons why parents discontinue breastfeeding

  • How to successfully meet your goals

  • Language of breastfeeding

  • What your baby takes from this experience

  • Positions that work

  • How to troubleshoot a correct latch

  • And so much more!

This class is best taken in the last trimester of pregnancy, however this session is open to anyone who is interested in learning the art of lactation – care providers, parents of new babes, nurses, grandparents and partners. Most insurances will reimburse for IBCLC services, including classes.

Offered the first Sunday of every month in-person at Illuminated Birth & Company in Acton. Taking July and August off, but will be back in September!
